Requirements – What You Will Need

1. Undergraduate Degree 
In order to be admitted to the graduate programs at Stevens Institute of Technology online certificate programs, you will need to have completed your undergraduate degree at an accredited institution. You do not need to have completed your undergraduate degree to take training programs.

2. Application
You may apply via mail or by WWW. Once we have received all your documents, your application will be reviewed by the appropriate department. On average, it takes two to three weeks to reach a decision on an application. You will then be informed by mail if you are rejected or accepted into the program. If you wish to start taking online classes as soon as possible, but will not have all your application materials available three weeks before the start of the semester, you can take a class as a Non-Matriculating student, pending review. Enrolling at Stevens with a non-matriculating status does not guarantee that you will be accepted into the certificate program. You don't need to apply as a graduate student to take courses in the Professional e-Seminars program or other non-degree programs.

3. Letters of Recommendation
Two Letters of Recommendation are required. You do not need to submit letters of recommendation for the Professional e-Seminars (training) classes or non-academic programs.

4. Transcripts
You will also need to submit Official Transcripts in English from the college(s) you attended. Translations into English must either be prepared by the school you attended or be prepared by an Official Translator with a recognized seal. You do not need to submit transcripts to enroll in training or non-academic programs.

5. Application Fee
Please provide us with a nonrefundable check or money order for US$55, made payable to Stevens Institute of Technology at the address indicated below. An application fee is not required for training or non-academic  programs.

6. International Students
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam is required for international students who enroll in academic programs.   The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required for international students who enroll in academic engineering or technical programs.  Results should be sent to the Graduate School at Stevens from Educational Testing Services (ETS). 

7. Auditing a class
Some academic programs may permit auditors. Audit students need to submit an application plus an application fee only. Auditors are required to pay the same tuition as regularly enrolled students.

8. GRE and GMAT Exams
All students applying for admission into the MBA or PhD programs MUST take the GMAT or GRE exam.  Applicants to the MBA program require a GMAT score >500 (or 550 for the Financial Engineering major)to be considered for admission.  Other than for PhD or MBA programs, these tests are not generally required for US students.   However, academic program directors may strongly recommend the GRE general exam for some students.  NOTE: Applicants for the Computer Science Program (CyberSecurity concentration) who do not have a bachelor's degree in CS , or applicants seeking financial support, MUST take the GRE general exam.  The requirements for admission into the MS program in Computer Science (CyberSecurity Concentration) are a bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a four point scale.

9. Username/Password
If you are a newly enrolled or registered WebCampus.Stevens' student and did not receive your Username and Password, go to the Pipeline ID maintenance page to access your account information.

Your Username and Password can be emailed to a non-Stevens e-mail address. If you did not provide an e-mail address, your username and password will be mailed to your home address. You can also update your contact information online.

If you are a continuing Stevens' student, you should have already received your Username and Password. There is no need for you to request a new one.

Technical 

To participate as a WebCampus.Stevens online graduate student, you will need to have access to hardware and software with these minimum features.

1. Computer
It is strongly recommended that you have either a Pentium-class personal computer running on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP or a Power Macintosh running System 9.x, 10.1.x or later. Your machine should have at least 16MB RAM. It is also highly recommended that you have access to a computer to which you can logon at your leisure, anytime, at your own pace. It is not recommended that you rely on access to computers not available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, such as those you may be able to use at work, at a library, or other facility where you may not be able to logon whenever you wish. Some companies may have Internet firewalls that will prevent you from accessing WebCampus.Stevens from your computer at work.

2. Internet Connection
You will need to acquire your own account with a local Internet Service Provider (ISP), permitting you to use SSL connections through Port 443. You will be responsible for securing your ISP account and may want to check with your ISP that the above connection is possible before joining them. Communication charges you receive will be your responsibility to pay separately; such charges are not included in your online course tuition or fees.

3. Modem
You will need a 28.8 kbps modem or higher.

4. e-Mail address
You will need to open an e-mail account and acquire an e-mail address that you can access anytime.

5. Browser
Your browser should support attachments such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
i. Netscape 4.76, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, and 6.2.3 (PC & Mac)
ii. Internet Explorer 5.0 to 6.0 Service Pack 1, except 5.5 Service Pack 1 (PC)
iii. Internet Explorer 5.0 and 5.1 (Mac OS 9.x)
iv. Internet Explorer 5.1 (Mac OS 10.1)
v. AOL 7.0 (PC & Mac)
Some courses may require more recent browser software and additional plug-ins. Your instructor will inform you about which browser version is preferable and where to go to purchase or download it at no charge.

6. Word Processing
To send documents to your instructor and other students as email attachments, you will need current versions of Word or Word Perfect.

7. Web Conferencing
WebCampus has added web conferencing capabilities to selected classes. Web conferencing will make it possible for instructors to conduct real-time class presentations or record on-demand lectures.
The web conferencing system that will be utilized by WebCampus will be AT&T Connect by AT&T, Inc. (formerly Interwise Inc.). This system consists the Interwise Participant application, which will be utilized by students and instructors.

The minimum requirements to use the Interwise Participant application are:
o Windows 9x, ME, NT4 (SP4), 2000 Professional or XP (please note that v4.5 SP1+ is not supported on Win95)
o 233 MHz processor
o Internet Explorer version 5+; Netscape 4.7+
o Standard sound card with a headset or microphone and speakers
o Telephone or headset with integrated microphone
o 64 MB RAM
o 5 MB of free hard disk space for the Participant application installation
o 50 MB of disk space set aside for event materials to be downloaded
o A monitor with 800 x 600 resolution and High Color (16 bit) display definition
o TCP/IP Internet access or a modem with at least 33.6kbps Internet access

8. Other Software
Your instructor will indicate whether you may be required to purchase or download other software in order to participate effectively in online courses.
