Nick Strakhov
Since 2003 I have taught three different topics as graduate courses in Software Engineering. I retired from Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore, formerly Bell Labs) in October, 2002. I started with Bell Labs in 1959. During my time there I worked in the following areas:
- Development of new Software System for Assigning Central Office Inventory to Customer Circuits– this is a large system (~5M lines of code). The majority of the code runs on an IBM main frame and a small part runs on a desktop computer. An ancillary system is based on a client/server architecture.
- Supervised a team of software engineers developing a predecessor software system. One of the activities was to develop and utilize a Fortran to C translation program.
- Improved understanding of manufacturing variations on crosstalk performance of multi-pair cable. Developed theory and confirmed with data.
- Contributed to design of fiber optic cable
- Directed the Development of a Computer-controlled Cable Crosstalk Measurement System.
- Developed Transistorized Test Sets for Telephone Company Maintenance Personnel.
