Luther Tai, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
Luther Tai, Senior Vice President of Central Services for Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., is a lawyer and engineer with more than 35 years of utility industry experience. Tai heads one of the company's key organizations, responsible for its vital support services. He is in charge of operations for The Learning Center, Con Edison's corporate university, and is also responsible for Human Resources, Equal Employment Opportunity, Information Resources, Purchasing, Central Field Services, Security, Energy Management, and Research and Development. Prior to his current position, he served as Senior Vice President of Central Operations, responsible for system and transmission operations, substations, maintenance and construction as well as steam operations. Tai also served as Vice President of Corporate Planning. He joined Con Edison in 1970 and has held various managerial posts, including Chief Generation Planning Engineer, Chief Forecast Engineer, and Director of Corporate Planning where he played a key role in developing strategies and plans for the restructuring and deregulation of the electric utility industry in New York State. Tai also spent time in Asia and the Pacific Region working with power developers and assessing potential business opportunities in the region. Tai holds a doctor of education degree from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Cornell, a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School, a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Columbia, and a bachelors in Chemical engineering from MIT. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
